Homer Helps Hypochondriacs

I knew I loved The Simpsons for more than just their edgy humor. Researchers are now saying that the show is playing a role in the destigmatization of mental illness. The article explains that through humor, like Homer's attempt to cure his depression with a "homemade Prozac," the show acknowledges mental illness as a part of everyday life, rather than pretend it doesn't exist.

“Beer: The cause of, and solution to, all of life's problems.”
- Homer Simpson

Man, Homer is retarded! That's why we all love him so. I remember when he bought up all the sugar and had it in a mound on his front lawn. Ridiculous shit! Ooh, and how about the time when Apu became a US citizen and the first thing he asked the immigration official was "Now which way to the welfare office?"
